![]() There isn’t really much of a story in Superliminal in all honesty: as a test subject in an experimental Dream Therapy program, you end up getting trapped within a cycle of recurring dreams unable to wake up. This leads us inside the window, where we can enter the room that appears at the other side. … except, wait! We can grab one of the windows in here and make it big enough to fit through! Unfortunately, it just seems to lead to an empty windowed room with seemingly nothing interactable inside. This could be useful.īy altering perspective so we can make the fan bigger, we can blow over the Jenga pile and make the door accessible! On closer inspection, there seems to be a small table next to the giant stack, with a small fan on top. We can’t grab any of the Jenga pieces, nor does there seem to be much else going on in the room. We enter a room with a massive Jenga set and a doorway at the top. Here’s an example of one of the puzzles you will encounter: That doesn’t make them any less clever or make you feel less rewarded for solving them. I highly recommend this, even if you're someone like me who is normally intimidated by puzzle games.Unlike Portal, environments are a little more open with you navigating your way through the dreams rather than having in-depth puzzle rooms. I don't feel I wasted a penny on this and really enjoyed the experience, as did my community. A very short game can be worth a bigger asking price if it's a really great short experience. Making a 2-3 hour game worth as much as this is tricky to do. This took me about 3 hours to get through, though it's certainly doable quicker if you're better at puzzles than I am. I can't really say more without spoiling it but I really found it meaningful. ![]() The story starts off feeling very Portal-like but by the end, conveys a really interesting and meaningful message about perception and critical thinking that one can definitely take away and benefit from in the real world. They seem expertly designed to give those "A-HA!" moments. Even the hardest puzzles never stumped me for too long and I had several moments where I was about to ask for a hint and then suddenly, the solution came to me. The music is relaxing and doesn't make you feel stressed while figuring out the puzzles. Its visual style is minimal but also very effective and will really trip you out in places. What a delight! If I had to sum up the game in two words, it'd be "Clever, eh?" You will find many puzzle games that are harder than Superliminal (not that it's a pushover by any means), you'll find ones with fancier presentations, you'll find ones that are longer, you'll find ones with more significant stories but this is an overall great package that does everything well. With its impressive lighting, soundtrack, graphics, and virtual reality implementation, it's sure to leave you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.ģh 2m PlayedA friend strongly recommended this to me so I bought it and played through it in one session, streaming it through Discord for my community. Overall, Superliminal is a must-play for anyone who loves a good psychological thriller. This adds a whole new level of depth and realism to the gameplay experience. The game fully immerses you in its world, allowing you to explore the environments and interact with the objects around you. However, what really makes Superliminal Super is its use of virtual reality. The game's graphics are also top-notch, with detailed environments and characters that bring the game to life. As you play through the game, you'll encounter a variety of puzzles and challenges that will test your cognitive abilities. The soundtrack is equally impressive, with a haunting and unsettling score that adds to the overall sense of unease. The lighting in the game is fantastic, creating an eerie and tense atmosphere that perfectly sets the mood for the game. ![]() 3h 8m PlayedThe game Superliminal is a psychological thriller that will leave you on the edge of your seat.
